ESA released their latest report on the space environment on April 22, 2022. Some of the key findings:
- More satellites being launched than ever before, which is being driven by commercial satellite constellations in LEO
- Over 30,000 pieces of orbital debris have been identified
- Operator compliance to moving end of life satellites to disposal orbits, and deorbiting boosters and end of life satellites, has been improving; but is still unsustainable in the long run.
