    What is the Kessler Syndrome?

The Kessler Syndrome, also known as the Kessler effect, is a scenario proposed by NASA scientist Donald J. Kessler in 1978. It describes a chain reaction of collisions in space where the density of debris becomes so high that it causes further collisions, leading to a cascading effect and making certain orbits unusable for satellites.
