NVIDIA Plans Investment in Reflex Aerospace Satellite Production

NVIDIA plans to acquire a minority interest in Reflex Aerospace to support the German manufacturer’s satellite production and onboard computing work. Reflex announced the planned investment on October 19, 2026, identifying expansion in Bavaria and development of its satellite-platform architecture as the intended uses. The companies have not disclosed financial terms or a closing date.

NVIDIA separately identified Reflex among four German startups selected for planned investments. Its announcement places the transactions within a broader commitment of nearly $10 billion to European companies, universities, research institutions, and other organizations. That figure is the overall European commitment, not the amount allocated to Reflex.

Manufacturing and Onboard Processing

Reflex manufactures satellite platforms tailored to customer payloads. The payload performs the mission’s principal task, such as collecting imagery or carrying communications equipment. The surrounding platform supplies the supporting spacecraft functions. These include electrical power, temperature control, orientation, and the systems needed to operate the payload in orbit.

New Space Economy’s analysis of European satellite bus manufacturers identifies rapid customization and European production as features of Reflex’s approach. A satellite bus is the supporting platform, rather than the instrument or communications equipment it carries. Designing that platform around a customer’s requirements lets the manufacturer accommodate different payloads without starting every supporting subsystem from a new design.

Reflex says it typically delivers a first-of-a-kind satellite nine to 12 months after an order. That is the company’s stated delivery interval. Its October announcement describes a transition from initial missions toward constellation-scale production, following a €50 million Series A financing round in November 2025.

The proposed investment specifically includes onboard processing. Processing information within a spacecraft can reduce the need to transmit every raw measurement before useful results become available. The announcement does not specify an NVIDIA processor, a flight-computer design, or a deployment schedule for the resulting hardware.

The Orbital Data-Center Agreement

A separate development agreement shows the computing requirements Reflex is already addressing. On September 10, 2026, the company announced that Orbital had selected it to lead satellite-platform design for Orbital-1 and a planned orbital data-center constellation. Reflex provides the platform exclusively to Orbital for orbital-computing applications and act as system integrator for the space system.

The companies described engineering work on continuous rejection of hundreds of kilowatts of heat, large solar arrays, and a design suitable for production in volume. These are requirements of the planned architecture. The agreement joins Orbital’s engineering team in Los Angeles with Reflex teams in Berlin and Munich.

The Orbital work and the NVIDIA investment are separate announced arrangements. The former assigns spacecraft design and integration responsibilities for a customer program. The latter is intended to finance manufacturing expansion and further platform development, including the processing capability carried aboard future satellites.
