The European Investment Bank and Deutsche Bank announced a partnership on October 29, 2026, to support €560 million in investment by European space businesses. The financing will cover companies across the European Union, with approximately half the investment expected in Germany.
The EIB announcement identifies reusable launchers, spacecraft, advanced propulsion, satellite manufacturing, and Earth observation among the supported technologies. Component suppliers, satellite applications businesses, and in-orbit service providers are included in the initiative’s scope.
Deutsche Bank will receive long-term funding and flexible financing structures to support commercially viable companies expanding their activities. The European Space Agency contributes market intelligence and technical expertise, helping the financial institutions understand space businesses and connect financing opportunities with potential borrowers.
This division of responsibilities connects public financing, commercial banking, and specialist knowledge. The EIB’s role within European space financing includes supporting innovation and business growth through financial institutions as well as direct instruments.
The agreement forms part of Space TechEU, an EIB program designed to mobilize an estimated €1.4 billion in investment with commercial banking partners. It complements the group’s direct loans, venture debt, equity investment, and advisory services.
The partnership was agreed ahead of ESA’s October 29–30 Space Investor Forum in Munich, which brings investors together with space startups and companies expanding their operations.
