Business Models | New Space Economy

Infographic text explains that virtual mission environments use digital models to help customers explore system behavior before and during operations. It lists simulation tools and digital mission-system representations as the offering; design teams, manufacturers, operators, and training organizations as customers; and software licenses, subscriptions, and model-development services as revenue sources. Reusable models, useful fidelity, and customer integration are listed as margin drivers. Model errors, poor input data, and validation costs are listed as risks. The concluding statement says that a digital twin links to its real system, while every model has limits.

SIMULATION AND DIGITAL TWINS

Infographic describing a supplier’s role in a larger government project: it sells components, software, engineering, and specialist services; the prime or higher-tier contractor pays through purchase orders and subcontract agreements; specialization and repeat orders support margin; and risks include customer dependence, price pressure, and payment delays.

GOVERNMENT SUBCONTRACTING

Infographic describing a proposed business model for future lunar activity, including utility services, customers, revenue sources, value drivers, risks, and the need for sustained customer presence.

LUNAR SURFACE UTILITIES

Infographic describing earth-based spacecraft connection hardware, its customers, revenue model, margin drivers, risks and potential for ongoing service relationships.

SPACE GROUND EQUIPMENT

Infographic describing household internet access through a satellite network, with sections on the service offering, subscription and equipment revenue, customer demand, margin drivers, risks and recurring revenue.

CONSUMER SATELLITE BROADBAND

Infographic explaining a proposed market for orbital computing and storage, with sections on offerings, customers, revenue, value drivers, technical risks, and radiator requirements for waste heat.

ORBITAL DATA CENTERS

Infographic summarizes enhanced positioning and timing services, identifying correction data, integrity information, and specialized timing services; customer groups; subscription, contract, and equipment revenue; margin drivers; risks; and factors affecting performance.

POSITIONING AND TIMING AUGMENTATION

Infographic summarizing a recurring-payment model for space-enabled services, with text covering what is sold, revenue structure, customer reasons to buy, margin drivers, risks, and the role of continuing customer value.

SPACE SUBSCRIPTIONS

Infographic explaining a proposed orbital energy business that would collect sunlight and transmit energy to receiving sites on Earth; panels summarize what is sold, who may pay, revenue sources, value drivers, risks, and the unproven commercial case.

SPACE-BASED SOLAR POWER

Illustration of Earth with North and South America visible, a ground communications dish, an orbiting satellite, a rocket launching beside a facility, three people using a laptop, and workers handling spacecraft equipment indoors; text explains how space companies create value and earn revenue.
