Hera — launch
Date in UTC
Hera is a European Space Agency planetary-defense mission launched on October 7, 2024. It was designed to investigate the Didymos–Dimorphos asteroid system after NASA’s DART spacecraft struck Dimorphos in 2022. Observations by Hera and its accompanying CubeSats are intended to measure the target system and the consequences of the impact, improving understanding of how a kinetic impact can alter an asteroid’s motion.
